»August 31, 2007: A goodbye to Cisco...
Well, I am done here at Cisco, this is the last day, and in a couple of hours I will prepare for my trek back to school. I have to head from San Francisco to Reno to visit my wife for a couple of days, then on Labor Day cross that horrid Nevada Desert out to Utah. I tell you what, crossing the Nevada Desert in the summer in a 94 Isuzu Pickup with no Air Conditioning is a test of strength and en... ... (MORE)

»August 30, 2007: Welcome to the human network...
Well, only one day left. It is crazy, seemed like just yesterday I walked into Cisco ignorant of the whole technology world. Now I leave realizing the true power of Web 2.0 and how social networks are going to change the world we live in, and how marketing is going to completely change as well, so we had better get on board. With things like Tivo allowing people to skip TV commercials and strip... ... (MORE)

»August 24, 2007: All by myself...
As I speak all of my Marketing buddies are at our annual Marketing Trip to Moab, UT. They are currently rafting down the Colorado River, as I sit here at work. That is what I get for starting my internship in June, I do not get off until August 31st, then it is a mad dash back to Utah to get to school before it starts on September 4th. I am going to miss the first football game as well, the BYU... ... (MORE)

»August 18, 2007: Where have all the Interns gone?
Man, everyone else is leaving and I still have 2 more weeks at Cisco. Crazy. Ben Maugn left last week, and Linda Watkins left yesterday, so I am officially the only BYU student left here at Cisco. It gets even better though, we were supposed to have a big Intern closing Ice Cream Social yesterday, so a ton of interns show up in the meeting room, waiting for our ice cream. 15min pass, then 30min... ... So Barry finally did it, broke the home run record. Since he did it, and since the Giants are having such a horrible season you can now get tickets for super cheap, so I went to the game on Friday night after work. I saw Barry hit 758, which was awesome, but then saw the Giants give up 6 runs in the 8th inning to lose the game 8-7. Give me a break. Then the lost on Saturday and Sunday to the Pi... ... (MORE)
»August 6, 2007: Is there a party and did I not get invited? 08/03/07
Man, once again I am only here on the 3rd floor. Just me and the janitors. Crazy. Once again I would like to say Cisco is way cool about lettting people work from home. As long as you get the work done they are cool with it, even though I was talking to another MBA from UCLA, Anil, and he said in his Marketing division that eveybody is there. I guess Strategic Alliances is where it is at, and n... ... (MORE)
»August 6, 2007: Silence Falls upon me.... 07/27/07
Well, it is quitting time here at Cisco on a Friday afternoon and for the last 3 hrs since 2pm I have only seen 2 other people on my entire floor. The haven t even been completely turned on the entire day due to the lack of people. That is one thing really cool about Cisco, they let you work from home, so today I saw NOBODY here. Kind of irie how quite it was today....Well, I updated my pic wit... ... (MORE)
»August 6, 2007: Finals Baby! 07/25/07
One cool thing about Cisco is that there is a Basketball league they have here, because they have basketball courts all over campus. My team is in the finals, oh ya. Feels good you know, to come on in, be the ringer, and lead your team to the finals. Acutally, there are guys on the team that are WAY better than me, but I play almost the entire game so I feel good, and I contribute.Cisco is good... ... (MORE)

I should write more, so I am trying....We had an MBA lunch so I got to hang out with some of my MBA intern buddies here. A ton of HR interns, and a ton of kids from East Coast Schools. The more I get around and the more I meet kids from top schools like Northwestern, Standford, Harvard, U of Penn, Michigan, Duke, UCLA, MIT and what not the more I realize that at BYU we are just as smart and as ... ... I tell you what, I love Cisco, but man, this tech stuff is nuts. I have no experience in the tech industry, and I don t understand it very well. I was brought in because Cisco likes my experience in Marketing Research, and that is what I am doing and they seem to be very happy with my work, but this tech stuff is nuts. Don t get me wrong, I am learning, and I know WAY more than I ever did befor... ... (MORE)
»August 6, 2007: Finishing the first week 6/15/07
Well, I am about to finish up my first week here at Cisco, and I like it. Cisco is RAD, they have a huge campus in San Jose, only about a mile from Great America (which is like 6 flags, but cooler). They have tons of building and the campus is nice. There are also a lot of cool perks, like free work out rooms, basketball courts, soda, water, a really nice cafeteria, and they also have stuff on ... ... (MORE)

Well, I just got my offer from Cisco (thats right, at the end of May) so I am headed down to the Bay Area where I grew up, so I am excited. Just goes to prove that sometimes internships come late. BYU gets out so early compared to all the other schools sometimes internships don t come through till after school. I know of 4 Marketing students who have gotten their internships in the past 2 week... ... (MORE)
